Flu Remedies
The "best" flu remedy seems to vary depending on who you talk to. Some people think that certain over-the-counter medications are the best way to get relief. Others feel homeopathic remedies are best. Still others believe that only your doctor can help you to make the right decision. If I talked to my husband, he would say the best remedy against the flu is not the flu (not always is the most useful). Talk smart, because it almost never gets sick. I'm very jealous of him. I think his genes must be better than mine, because he does not eat healthy or exercise any other but I still get sick more often than him. I can catch the flu almost every year. I have tried over-the-counter medicines, homeopathic remedies, and have gone to my doctor when I got serious flu cases. Below I have listed the common and not so common remedies for the flu. Some homeopathic remedies are, while others involve taking over-the-counter medications, while others are prescription. 1) The first element is more of a suggestion to keep yourself from getting sick again rather than a remedy, but I think it's very good advice. Put the toothbrush in a glass with hydrogen peroxide on it to prevent re-infecting yourself (especially if you have a cold). Toothbrushes are a haven for germs and the hydrogen peroxide will kill the bacteria on the toothbrush. You can decide to put your toothbrush with hydrogen peroxide every day to kill bacteria that build up. 2) Besides putting the toothbrush in a cup of hydrogen peroxide may want to put a few drops of hydrogen peroxide in your ears. You can help kill flu (or cold) germs. Sometimes the hydrogen peroxide may sting a little. The process involves placing a few drops in one ear with a cotton swab or Q-Tip. After a few minutes drain the excess fluid out onto a tissue or paper towel. Then do the same in the other ear. Repeat the process after an hour or two. Keep repeating until the hydrogen peroxide does not bubble when placed in the ear (usually after 2 or 3 times). Hydrogen peroxide is said to be more effective if used as soon as possible after becoming sick. 3) The extract of the elderberry can decrease the duration of the flu according to studies conducted in Israel. Talk to your doctor, pharmacist or herbalist for advice on how much and how often to take it, and also to ensure that it will not interfere with other medications or supplements you may already be taking. 4) Boneset is another herb said to help decrease the severity and duration of the flu. It is usually added to boiled water with honey and lemon (to make it easier to drink), and then took a sip. Again, check with your doctor, pharmacist or herbalist for the recommended dosage. 5) Oscillococcinum is a popular homeopathic / natural take to help with flu symptoms of body aches, fever and chills. One of the reasons why it is so popular is that it does not cause drowsiness. 6) Naturoksinum is another remedy available flu natural. It is touted as being able to reduce the severity of flu symptoms in half. It is one of the flu remedies most popular in France and is on sale in the United States. 7) Echinacea is another popular natural remedy for influenza. Again, it is a herbal product, consult your doctor, pharmacist or herbalist to make sure it is safe for you to take and does not interfere with other medications or supplements you are taking.
Tamiflu and Relenza are two prescription drugs to treat influenza. For any of these drugs work best to be taken with two days of the onset of flu symptoms. Both Tamiflu and Relenza work by preventing the flu virus infects cells of the body that are still healthy, and both work against influenza A and B.
